Nadal advances

Rafael Nadal is into the semi-finals of the US Open after he beat Mardy Fish 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. He will now play Andy Murray.


It took Nadal two hours and fourty minutes to beat the American which ended at 02h10 this morning after which he thanked his fans for watching the whole game. The Spaniard said this wasn't the best conditions but some schedules are tough.

This is the first time Nadal has advanced so far in the competition and if he is to defeat his next apponent Murray he could find himself in the records books. The world number one could become the first man to win three majors in a row since Rod Laver, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.

Nadal says he is very happy to be in the semi-finals if he tought otherwise he would be stupid!
